Maybe they're just learning enough street smarts to figure out how to manipulate things to their own advantage. Or maybe they're really growing up and trying to be helpful. Or maybe the truth lies in a combination of both. At any rate, I'll take all the help I can get these days.
Emma just approached me to ask whether there was any laundry that needed to be folded. (Obvious answer in a household of six with a working mom and a dad who works outdoors in a region where the heat index regularly reaches 100 degrees: uhhh, Yes.)
Then comes the deal: "If Jane and I fold the laundry for you, can we watch TV while we do it?"
We are a minimalist TV family, and most of the time I would swear that TV comes straight from the devil.
Even so, I didn't really make a deal with the devil if I said yes, just this once, did I?
